Canadian singer and actress Carly Rae Jepsen rose to international fame in 2012 with "Call Me Maybe," which topped charts around the world on its way to becoming one of the best-selling singles of all time.
Jepsen began her music career with the 2008 release of her debut album, Tug of War. "Call Me Maybe," already a hit in Canada, took off in the U.S. after pop star Justin Bieber praised the song on Twitter, and when the dust settled, the single had reached number one in 18 countries.
Jepsen followed "Call Me Maybe" with albums including 2015's Emotion and 2019's Dedicated, earning increasing critical respect for her expertly-crafted postmodern pop. She also appeared in several films and television shows, including Grease: Live and Cinderella.
