Huey Lewis & The News

  • 🇺🇸 San Francisco, CA
  • Years Active
    1979 - Now
Huey Lewis and the News' upbeat, feel-good vibe and catchy, upbeat melodies were catnip to mainstream rock listeners during the 1980s.

Huey Lewis and the News formed in San Francisco in 1979. The band's first two albums attracted intermittent attention, but its third full-length, 1983's Sports, became one of the biggest-selling albums of the decade, galvanized by Top Ten hits including "The Heart of Rock & Roll," "I Want a New Drug" and "If This Is It."

Huey Lewis and the News scored its first number one hit with 1985's "The Power of Love," featured in the blockbuster film Back to the Future. While 1986's Fore! continued the group's commercial hot streak, its fortunes fell off sharply by the early 1990s, although its high-energy concert tours continued for years to come.
