From the original liner notes:

The Bar-Kays, four of whom were killed in the airplane crash which also took Otis Redding's life, have since re-grouped around the two remaining members.

The two survivors, Ben Cauley, who was the only survivor of the crash, and James Alexander, who missed the plane, have retained the name the Bar-Kays and have added four new members.

The new men are Ronnie Gorden, 19, on organ,Harvey Henderson, 17, on tenor sax, Michael Toles, 15, on guitar; Roy Cunningham, 20, brother of the late Carl Cunningham, who was killed in the crash, on drums; and Willie Hall also on drums.

The new Bar-Kays made their first public appearance at a benefit show for the Goodwill Boys' Club in Memphis.

Meanwhile, "Soulfinger", recorded by the original Bar-Kays in May 1967 and a national hit by June of that year, was named the number one best selling record in Spain, according to Cash Box.

The new Bar-Kays plan to be the top instrumental group in the United States in 1969! They have a good shot at that goal with this new album.
